Activity:
Trekking and mountaineering.
Season: December to March.
Duration: 10 days - 9 nights.
Level of difficulty: Physically
challenging. To be in good physical condition required, trekking
experience of more than one day carrying a medium-weighted backpack
recommended.
Lodging: inn, mountain hut and
camping.
Meals: Full board, from day 2 breakfast
to day 9 lunch.
Itinerary:
Day 1:
Reception
at the Bariloche Airport. Transport to the city and accommodation
in the inn. Checking of equipment
Day 2:
Breakfast. Transport to Colonia Suiza (Swiss Colony). Beginning
of traverse along Goye´s Creek valley up to Black Lagoon and the
Italia mountain hut (it belongs to the Andean Bariloche Club), where
we will stay overnight.
Total daily trekking: 5 hours.
Day 3:
Going
round the lagoon, ascent to the ridge of Mount Bailey Willis. Afterwards,
descent to La Chata (Lluvuco) Creek´s valley. Ascending again to
reach CAB Lagoon. Overnight at camp site.
Total daily trekking: 5 hours.
Day 4:
Ascent to the ridge of Mount CAB, descending to Mallín (Wetland)
de las Vueltas. Ascent to the ridge of Mount Los Cristales (The
Crystals), descending to Crettón Lagoon. Overnight in camp site.
This is the most demanding day.
Total daily trekking: 7 a 8 hours.
Day 5:
Ascent to the ridge of Blue Lagoon; passing through Jujuy Lagoon
and the ridge of Mount Capitán, descent to La Carne (The Meat) Lagoon
(Ilón). Overnight in camp site.
Total
daily trekking: 4 hours.
Day 6:
In the morning, trek to La Mirada del doctor (Doctor´s gaze). After
noon time, descent to Pampa Linda. Accommodation in Pampa Linda
Inn.
Total daily trekking: 4 to 5 hours.
Day 7:
Ascent
to Meiling hut in Mount Tronador (Rambler). Approximately 5-hour
trek. In the afternoon we will visit Castaño Overo Glacier. Overnight
in the hut.
Total daily trekking: 5 hours
Day 8:
Descent to Meiling hut by Alerce Glacier (Larch Glacier). Paso de
las Nubes (Pass of the Clouds). Approximately 6-hour trek. Camp
in the Frias Lake´s edge, overlooking the Frías Glacier.
Total daily trekking: 6 hours.
Day
9:
Going up the Frías River by a trail that runs in the midst of the
Selva Valdiviana (Cold Jungle), descent to Frías Port. Approximately,
4-hour trek. From that point, crossing Frías and Nahuel Huapi Lakes,
a boat takes us to Pañuelo Port. Transport to Bariloche. Accomodation
in the inn
Total daily trekking: 4 hours.
Day 10:
Breakfast. Transfer to Airport.
Included: Transfers IN/OUT.
Accommodation in Bariloche in La Pastorella Inn or in a similar
one, breakfast included. Accommodation in Pampa Linda Inn. English
speaking mountain guide and porter. Technical equipment for ice
traverse. Overnight, dinner and breakfast in Italia mountain hut.
Overnight, dinner and breakfast in Meiling mountain hut. Tents and
sleeping pads, full cooking kit and participants´ set of dishes.
Full board. Transport from Bariloche to Colonia Suiza. Navigation
Frías and Nahuel Huapi Lakes. Transport from Pto. Pañuelo to Bariloche.
Inn accommodation in double room, in camp site in a tent for two.
Inn lodging: The Inn lodging rates are for double occupancy
bases. If you want single room lodging please contact us about extra
charges that apply
Not included: Meals in
Bariloche. Drinks in huts. Medical assistance. Tips.
Required Equipment: Backpack (60
liters); (- 10º) sleeping bag; strong trekking shoes; sport shoes
or sandals for camp site use; thermal underwear; spare pair of stockings;
fleece pullover or similar; waterproof jacket; comfortable pants
(not jeans); thermal hat and gloves; sunhat; sunglasses with UV
protection; sunblock lotion; personal toiletries; torch (preferably
headlamp); big plastic bags.
