Activity:
snowshoeing, winter trekking.
Season: From June to the end
of September in any moment with the minimum required below.
Duration: 7 days - 6 nights.
Level of difficulty: As winter
trekking involves no technical difficulty and requires no previous
experience, the activity is open to everybody. All you need is to
be in good shape and have good disposition to physical effort (remember
you'll be carrying a pack with moderate weight).
Lodging: Three nights in Neumeyer
Mountain Hut, two nights in Frey Mountain Hut and the last night
is spent in hostel or Inn in Bariloche.
Meals: All meals from Day 1 afternoon
snack to Day 6 lunch. Lunch may consist of main course and dessert
or packed lunch, according to the scheduled activity. Beverages
not included.
Itinerary:
Day
1:
Reception or Briefing with participants and transfer by 4 x 4 van
to the Neumeyer Mountain Hut (1,320 m - 4,330 ft) located in Challhuaco
Valley, about 17 km (10 ½ miles) from Bariloche city. Accommodation
in the hut and trek to the Mirador del Valle (Valley´s Look-Out)..
Day 2:
Trek with snowshoes through Valle de los Perdidos (Valley of the
Lost Ones) and Ñirihuau Look-Out.. Return to the hut.

Day 3:
We attemp our ascent to Mount Challhuaco (2,080 m - 6,824 ft) with
snowshoes. Return to the hut..
Day 4:
Early morning: transfer by 4 x 4 Van to Villa Catedral (1,050 m
- 3,444 ft). Ascent through the Van Titter Valley to Frey Mountain
Hut (1,700 m - 5,577 ft). A journey of about 10 km (6 miles)..
Day 5:
Ascent to Bara Peak and/or to "Cancha de Fútbol" (Soccer Ground).
Return to the hut.
Day
6:
Descent via the path to Lake Gutiérrez. Transfer to the city hostel
or Inn. .
Day 7:
Transfer to departure point.
Includes: Reception and
transfet to Neumeyer Mountain hut by 4 wheel drive vehicle. Transfer
from Neumeyer hut to Villa Catedral and from Lake Gutiérrez to city
hostel or Inn and from hostel or Inn to departure point. Accommodation
in Neumeyer hut: 3 nights. In Frey hut: 2 nights and in city hostel
or Inn: 1 night. Hut meals: as specified above. Full-time English
speaking mountain guide; assistant/porter for the Frey segment;
snow shoes, sticks, plastic boots and crampons .
Not included: Meals in
Bariloche, drinks, medical assistance, tips.
Price
per person: (mnimum 4 persons)
Inn rates are for double or triple
occupancy. Contact us for extra charges that apply for single room.
Required equipment: Backpack (60
litres); sleeping bag (-5ºC or -10ºC); trekking shoes plus an extra
pair; thermal stockings; loose or jogging pants or tights; thermal
pullover; T-shirt with long sleeves; a full change of clothing;
full waterproof garments (jacket w/hood, overtrousers, gaiters and
overgloves); thermal hat and gloves (2 pairs); sunglasses with UV
protection; sunblock lotion; water container; small flashlight (preferably
headlamp); personal toiletries; 10 garbage bags and 2 big plastic
bags.
